Test controls are factors that influence sensory verdicts.  Identifying and understanding the details that affect testing are critically important to your role as a panel leader.  In this module, we will discuss the importance of test controls in collecting accurate and reproducible data.
NOTE: The content of this course is similar to our course Best Practices for Product Evaluation but geared specifically toward panel leaders. We recommend completing one or the other but not both.

Managing your group’s dynamics is an essential skill for panel leaders. This on-demand module provides information for you to reflect on as you consider interactions with your panel.

Panel Motivation and Monitoring

Panelists that are highly motivated will generate better data. It is also important to be proactive in monitoring panel data so you can detect potential problems early. In this module, we’ll review specific strategies and techniques for creating and maintaining panel motivation. We will review what it means to monitor overall panel and individual panelist performance. We will discuss techniques to use, to confirm that data meets your quality standards, and metrics to identify both high performers, and panelists that may need additional guidance.

Visualizing panel data is a powerful technique for uncovering patterns and trends in complex datasets over time. To truly convey a meaningful message, it's important to use sensory storytelling techniques that engage the viewer's emotions and help them to connect with the data on a deeper level.
