Meet Your Hosts
Lee Stapleton
Senior Director of Training & Education
With Sensory Spectrum since 1998, Lee utilizes her 25+ years of sensory science experience as a senior trainer for descriptive analysis & quality, a product focused creative facilitator, a strategic consultant, and an expert evaluator across a wide range of products and ingredients consumers eat, drink, smell, apply, use, and wear. Lee trained as a Food Scientist at Clemson University and N.C. State. She is Chair Elect for ASTM’s Sensory Evaluation Committee E-18 and a member of the Society of Sensory Professionals (SSP) and the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT). Lee has appeared on television, in print, and online on the topic of sensory evaluation, has presented at numerous conferences, and has authored or edited multiple book chapters in the field of sensory science.
Joanne Seltsam
Director of Training & Education
Joanne brings over 25 years of expertise in food and sensory science to her role as the Director of Training & Education since joining Sensory Spectrum in 2001. Beginning her career as a food product developer, she soon transitioned to sensory evaluation, leveraging her background to assist product developers in understanding the sensory attributes of their products. During her tenure at Sensory Spectrum, Joanne has served as a strategic consultant, trainer, and expert evaluator, employing her descriptive skills to train and lead panels both internally and externally. Her dedication to training and education makes her ideally suited to expand Sensory Spectrum’s curriculum to a global audience.
Joanne will lead us in a discussion of how to deal with the difficult dynamics we face whenever we're working with a large group of people, and how panel leaders can handle these dynamics effectively.
Lisa Codespot
Senior Program Manager
Lisa is Senior Program Manager for Personal Care and Discrimination at Sensory Spectrum, Inc., a globally recognized leader in sensory evaluation and consumer science. Lisa has been with Sensory Spectrum for 15+ years as a trainer for descriptive analysis and discrimination methodology, a strategic consultant, and an expert evaluator across a wide range of products and ingredients in food and non-food categories.
Lisa earned her degree in Biology and Psychology from the University of North Carolina Charlotte.
